Coming off the seventh season of The Ultimate Fighter, UFC Welterweight Matt Brown went 5-5 in his first ten fights inside the Octagon. He was known as a tough fighter, but with a .500 record he was little more than a gatekeeper through that point. However, Browne turned the corner and is currently on an impressive 6 fight winning streak.
Returning from an injury that kept him out a UFC on Fox 9 bout against Carlos Condit, Brown is now scheduled to headline the upcoming UFC Fight Night 41 in Cincinnati on May 10. In the show's main event he'll take on Erick Silva. While Silva may not be as high on the totem pole as Condit, Brown is still angling for a title fight with a win. In an AMA on Reddit MMA, he said repeatedly that he wants to fight for the title next and thinks he'd have no problem with champion Johny Hendricks:
Yes (I deserve a title shot) and I believe I would beat Hendricks handedly (sic)
The Immortal is obviously very confident in his abilities. When asked how his "pattycake game" is superior to those of the champ and most recent contender Robbie Lawler, Brown said:
Cuz I don't patty cake. Anyone I hit that many times will be ko'd no question.
Before his title hopes are realized, Brown will have to get past Silva who he plans to KO in order to avoid the Brazilian's jiu jitsu. Brown answered questions about many other topics including his thoughts on Yves Lavigne, fighting Semmy Schilt, and being confused for Mike Brown.
