It's only been 11 days since Rafael dos Anjos' unanimous decision loss to Khabib Nurmagomedov in Orlando, but the Brazilian lightweight already has his next fight lined up. He's set for a June 7th showdown with Jason High, who is making his debut at 155 lbs.
Dos Anjos (20-7) had won 5 straight fights, including a decision win over Donald Cerrone, en route to a big fight with Khabib Nurmagomedov on the UFC on Fox 11 prelims. But the 29-year-old was dominated throughout the contest and saw his win streak snapped, as well as any immediate path to a title shot in the crowded lightweight division.
High (18-4) returned to the UFC in 2013 after a rare "one fight and cut" loss to Charlie Brenneman back in 2010. "The Kansas City Bandit" quickly tapped out vs. Erick Silva on short notice in June, but recovered with wins over James Head and Anthony Lapsley to improve to 9-1 in his last 10. High was originally scheduled to fight Beneil Dariush at lightweight back in January, but appendicitis forced him off the card.
UFC Fight Night (insert number of your choice here) in New Mexico will air live on Fox Sports 1, with Ben Henderson and Rustam Khabilov in the night's main event. The co-main event will feature Diego Sanchez versus Ross Pearson.
