Here are some of the better prospects in action this weekend.
CES - 25 Apr - Lincoln, RI
Rob Font (9-1) vs. Tristan Johnson (8-4)
Team Sityodtong product Font is the CES Featherweight champion and currently riding a eight fight winning streak. As you would expect from a Sityodtong fighter, standup is Fonts strength and has been steadily improving since turning pro. Rob also can take the fight to the mat if his opponent over commits coming forward. His only loss as a pro came to current Bellator fighter Desmond Green and he has since beaten some of the best Featherweight talent in the Northeast region.
CFFC - 26 Apr - Atlantic City, NJ
Scott Heckman (17-4) vs. Levan Makashvili (7-0)
Age: 29 Age: 25
Height: 5'6 Height: 5'8
Makashvili has fought for K-1 in the past and defeated previously unbeaten Jordan Stiner last time out. He will go up against Heckman in a FW title fight who has won 9 of 10 and went 2-1 during a Bellator stint in 2011-2012.
Jonavin Webb (5-0) vs. Mike Winters (7-3)
Webb comes from a wrestling background, but after a short stint wrestling in Junior College at Gloucester County College, he found his way into MMA. He currently spends time training with UFC vet Ricardo Almeida, where he has earned a Brown Belt in BJJ. This is an outstanding team for him to train with in his native New Jersey
West Coast Fighting Championships - 26 Apr - Sacramento, CA
Dominic Pica (2-0) vs. Jordan Powell (3-1)
Pica has a strong Greco Roman, and folkstyle wrestling background. Dominic was big part of the California team that finished 2nd in the Junior Greco Roman National duels in 2008. He was also 2009 California State Wrestling Champion, and wrestled at the Iowa Central Community College during the 2010-2011 season where he racked up a 14-1 record. Iowa Central Community College is the same college that Jon Jones, Cain Velasquez, and former Bellator FW Champion Joe Soto wrestled for part of their College career. Pica now trains with Cesar Gracie, starting his Pro Career with 2 TKOs in a combined time of just over 2 minutes.
Xtreme Fighting Championships - 26 Apr - Sao Paulo, Brazil
Kalindra Faria (14-3-1) vs. Sanja Sucevic (4-2)
Faria makes a quick turn after winning by submission on March 30th. That victory ran her winning streak to 10, and she is on a roll just as UFC, and WSOF have joined Invicta in the Strawweight market. I wouldn't be surprised based off her winning streak if she doesn't become a potential opponent for Jessica Aguilar in WSOF later this year.
Review from last week:
Inka Fighting Championships - 16 Apr - Miraflores, Lima, Peru
Ben Reiter (14-0-1) picked up a UD over Danilo Pereira (23-11).
Cage Warriors FC - 18 Apr - Amman, Jordan
Kurban Gadzhiev's (6-0) bout with Phil Harris (22-12) was scrapped with Gadzhlev came down with an illness.
Arnold Allen (7-0) needed only 36 seconds to TKO Tobias Huber (5-5)
CFFC - 19 Apr - Morristown, NJ
Sean Santella (13-4-1) was upset dropping a UD to Nick Honstein (15-7).
I'm not perfect, if I've missed a prospect let me know in the comments section.
