One FC is looking to sign Rich Franklin, but not to a fighting contract.
The former UFC middleweight champion revealed on Saturday morning that he is currently in talks with One FC about potentially joining the promotion as Vice President. The news was revealed on his official Facebook page.
"I have been in talks with ONE FC about taking a job with them. They offered me a position as VP. I will be heading to ONE FC headquarters in the next few weeks to work out the details. I met with Dana and Lorenzo at the end of last year and they gave me their blessing. I will keep you posted."
Franklin holds a 12-6 record in the UFC, but has not fought since his KO loss to Cung Le back in November, 2012. The former math teacher reigned as the middleweight champion between 2005-2006 before surrendering the gold to Anderson Silva, who would go on to rule the division for the better part of six years.
Since losing to Le, Franklin has spent the majority of his time operating a chain of juice bars in LA, which he will likely have to scale down if he is to take an executive position with the top Asian promotion.
One FC's next event titled "Rise of Heroes" is scheduled to take place on May 2nd in Manila.
