Ex-UFC fighter Thiago Silva, charged with aggravated assault, granted $25,000 bail

Former UFC light heavyweight Thiago Silva, once denied bail following his February arrest, will be released from the Broward County Jail today.

Thiago Silva, currently charged with two counts of aggravated assault with a weapon (among other charges), is set to be released from a Florida jail today on $25,000 bail. Silva, who was arrested last month, was initially denied bail by Broward Circuit Judge John Hurley, was granted bail by Judge Geoffrey Cohen. Silva was scheduled to fight Ovince St. Preux at UFC 171 at the time of his arrest, and his contract was immediately terminated following this incident.

According to CBS Miami, these are the following conditions for Silva while he's out on bail:

The judge ordered, as conditions for release, that Silva stay away from drugs and alcohol, wear an ankle monitoring bracelet, attend anger management classes and stick to a 10:00 p.m. curfew.

This entire sequence of events was sparked exactly four weeks ago, when Silva threatened to kill his ex-wife and shoot everyone inside the Pablo Popovitch Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Center in Oakland Park, FL. He then barricaded himself inside his home with the SWAT team surrounding the property. Silva gave himself up after a few hours and was apprehended.

Silva's manager, Glenn Robinson, also stated that they're working on getting him another fight with a different organization now that the UFC has released him. I highly doubt that based on what he's charged with that any notable organization would dare take the chance on picking him up.
