Okay, I hope this doesn't count as fighter bashing.
Not so long ago, Kron Gracie was the guest of the Joe Rogan experience. I don't follow jiu-jitsu or grappling competitions, but he won ADCC so he's pretty damn good on the ground.
The conversation ventured as some point to Kron wanting to go to MMA. Joe asked how is he training his striking and Kron replied that 'there's a lot of striking in jiu jitsu and that's what's he's training'. Joe didn't really go much further into that.
To me, this sounds like a karate master saying he's gonna use his karate grappling if needed. If you go to the ground with even a novice grappler without having any grappling training, you're going to get submitted. Easily. But the same goes for striking. And 100% of MMA fights start standing up (ok, 99,9 if you count the guys without legs). To me it seems very odd that such a high level martial artist coming from a father that has a lot of experience in MMA, make such claims.
Now, apparently he's training with some high level MMA guys so I'm sure he'll do alright, but he might want to look at Roger Gracie vs King Mo first.
