Remember Jason Brilz? He almost beat Antonio Rogerio Nogueira (and arguably did to some viewers), having taken the fight on just a few weeks notice back at UFC 114 in May 2010. Nogueira won the split decision, but Brilz raised his stock with a spirited performance. Unfortunately, the good times were over, as he was knocked out by Vladimir Matyushenko and Ryan Bader in a combined 97 seconds, and subsequently cut from the UFC.
Brilz (21-5-1) has made the rounds on the Nebraskan regional circuit, winning 3 straight, and earning a place in Titan Fighting Championships. The 38-year-old will debut against Vinny Magalhaes at Titan FC 28 next month per Titan officials.
Magalhaes (10-7, 1 NC) was bounced from the UFC for a second time after losing a decision to Phil Davis and then suffering a shocking KO vs. Anthony Perosh in front of a stunned Brazilian crowd at UFC 163. The ADCC gold medalist had planned to face Jeff "F**ked For Free" Monson in November but pulled out citing a back injury.
