Both Cris Cyborg and Holly Holm angling for Ronda Rousey fight, Gina Carano silent

In the aftermath of rumors of a "huge" announcement involving Ronda Rousey, two potential opponents for her, Cris Cyborg and Holly Holm are talking up their desire for the fight. Gina Carano hasn't commented.

Yesterday we posted about UFC commentator Joe Rogan's claims that the organization is on the verge of a "huge" announcement involving Ronda Rousey. Today we've got responses from two of the possible opponents.

First up Cris Cyborg has a plan, via ESPN:

The plan calls for Justino, aka "Cyborg," to defend her 145-pound Invicta title in late April or early May, most likely against Ediane Gomes. Justino would then fight for Invicta's 135-pound title in a quick turnaround, perhaps as early as July

The goal is for Justino to gradually drop, under a physician's supervision, over the next few months, which would make her next two cuts to 145 pounds easier. She would then make a practice cut to 135 before fighting for the Invicta bantamweight title this summer.

With (former Cyborg manager Tito) Ortiz out of the picture, Justino and her representatives are optimistic a deal with the UFC could be reached in time to see her fight Rousey by the end of the year.

As for women's boxing legend turned undefeated mixed martial artist Holly Holm, she wants to be in the mix too, per MMA Junkie:

"I hope that (a Rousey bout) can happen. I really look forward to fighting (Rousey).

"I definitely feel like my MMA career is on a fast track, which I think is great. I figure if you're not going to challenge yourself, then why be in here? If you don't want to be the best, then why are you doing this?

"My job is just to get better in practice and get to where I can compete with her."

It should be noted that neither Cyborg nor Holm are signed to the UFC.

As for Gina, her last word on the topic dates back to the time of UFC 157 when she said she "wasn't closing the door" on a return to MMA but that she did wish Rousey was fighting Cyborg.

Rousey just defeated Sara McMann at UFC 170 and it is believed the UFC would like her to headline a big PPV in early July.

Stay tuned for more breathless hype and empty speculation.
