Edwards vs. Hallmann, Kikuno vs. Ferguson added to UFC 173

Joshua Lindsey-USA TODAY Sports

UFC 173 is coming together nicely, and the addition of two more lightweight bouts has made the important card even deeper.

Zuffa has been quickly adding fights to the big UFC 173 show on May 24th in Vegas, and there are now two more ready to go. Both will take place in the lightweight division, and will likely be on the preliminary card. The first sees Polish fighter Piotr Hallmann taking on veteran Yves Edwards (via UFC News on twitter):

Hallmann (14-2) is 1-1 under the UFC banner thus far, with a submission win over Francisco Trinaldo and a decision loss to Al Iaquinta. Edwards (42-20-1) caught a bit of a break when Yancy Medeiros tested positive after his knockout win and the fight was flipped to a No Contest. Nonetheless, Edwards badly needs a win in this bout.

The other lightweight bout involves a TUF winner and a Japanese standout. Tony Ferguson will meet Katsunori Kikuno:

Ferguson (14-3) rebounded from a loss to Michael Johnson when he submitted Mike Rio in under two minutes at UFC 166. He is 4-1 in the UFC overall. Kikuno (22-5-2), a former DEEP champion, picked up a decision win over Quinn Mulhern in his UFC debut in January.

The headliner of UFC 173 sees middleweight champion Chris Weidman defending his title against former light heavyweight champ Lyoto Machida.
