Generally we don't do articles about UFC posters around here. For one, they're not exactly a traffic goldmine. They're also not really relevant to much of anything. But the major reason we don't do them is pretty obvious - they're generally pretty lame.
But that all changed with the release of the poster for UFC 173: Weidman vs. Machida. The event goes down on May 24th in Las Vegas, and this type of advertising for the event should definitely get some attention. Check it out:
It's nice to see that they're thinking a bit outside the box with their advertising, because this is definitely memorable. Playing up the America vs. Brazil thing in lieu of a real rivalry between Chris Weidman and Lyoto Machida might be a bit trivial to some, but I think it works perfectly. Honestly, I can't remember a UFC poster this good since the alternate Georges St-Pierre vs. B.J. Penn one for UFC 94 that drew on the same sort of thing.
