UFC fans in Texas can look forward to another show coming their way this summer. Following UFC 171 in Dallas, Dana White announced that they'll be back in the Lone Star State for a UFC Fight Night card at the AT&T Center in San Antonio on June 28th. The night's main card will air live on Fox Sports 1, and continues this year's trend of the UFC and FS1 trying to hold live events on Saturday instead of Wednesday, which has been dubbed the "designated night of UFC programming" since it launched last year.
The UFC has never been to San Antonio, with previous Texas visits located in Dallas, Austin, Houston, and Fort Hood. At its maximum capacity, the AT&T Center seats nearly 19,000 for the NBA's Spurs, and 16,000 for their minor league ice hockey team. The arena has never hosted an MMA event of any sort but is home to tonight's WWE Monday Night Raw.
From a timing standpoint, this card is exactly one week prior to UFC 175 on 4th of July weekend, and two weeks after UFC 174 in Vancouver, which is the only other event scheduled for June. With the May shows just about filled up, expect to hear fight announcements for these summer shows over the next few weeks.
