In the co-main event of UFC 171, former interim welterweight champion Carlos Condit took on Tyron Woodley. Woodley worked hard through the first round to hit takedowns while avoiding Condit's dangerous striking game. He was able to take the first then followed up in the second with a takedown that injured Condit. A low kick in the aftermath forced the stoppage.

Woodley took control early, pressuring Condit against the fence in the clinch. Condit was able to separate but gave up a takedown shortly after. Woodley hit a takedown then tossed his opponent when Condit threatened a triangle choke. He followed that up with another takedown.

Condit looked to work his striking from the outside, but gave up a takedown to Woodley within the first minute. the action slowed and the referee stood them up. Back on the feet, Woodley kicked out Condit's lead leg and forced and unnatural twist. Condit's leg buckled and he was unable to continue and the fight was stopped.
