Bellator, fighting Power Ranger Jason Frank both want them some CM Punk

It seems like CM Punk maybe really did leave the WWE behind. Now word is bubbling up that MMA's #2 promotion would love to book him in a fight plus he's getting called out by another entertainer-turned-fighter, former Power Ranger Jason Frank.

I know you guys were breathlessly awaiting another turn in the CM Punk leaves WWE and becomes the new Brock Lesnar, single-handedly reviving the UFC boom. Oh wait, let's not get carried away.

Here's what we got, pro-wrestling and MMA media guru Dave Meltzer is reporting that the closest thing the UFC has to a rival is interested in the 35-year-old 0-0 fighter. From the Wrestling Observer (HT Cageside Seats):

"Bellator has already expressed at least preliminary interest in him. He would be free and clear of any WWE contractual obligations in July....

I get the impression a part of him would like to do it the same way Batista did it as a bucket list thing. With Batista, it seemed on the surface to be a real bad risk, but in the end, he did it and wasn't hurt at all. With Punk, on the surface, it would seem the same thing. A theoretical big risk....

The key is he's 35 and his body is beaten up from years of pro wrestling. While he does train in fighting disciplines, he doesn't have the competition background at a high level in any fighting sport. That is very old to start out in unless you want to compete at the beginners level. It's also hard to say if he goes against someone legit and loses, how it would affect him for a WWE return, either with the fans, or with management. And I'm not sure exactly what kind of challenge he'd be up for."

But wait, that's not all, also by way of Cageside Seats, former Power Ranger turned professional mixed martial artist Jason Frank wants him some CM Punk, via Instagram:

So now that CM punk is out of his contracts and wants to do MMA. Why not me? He already said he fight me. I got this on video from a fan. Come on CM punk we could make this a awesome fight. Plus his weight is way down. ... I'll make any weight to make this happen!!

So my advice is to hold your breath until all this excitement happens.
