Since I'm trying to make my 'Who Did Most To Finish?' articles a regular thing, and since there are rare occasions where we find ourselves in a week without a major MMA event, I'm planning to fill the gaps with a fight from the past judged using my experimental criteria.
This is the Bloody Elbow community's chance to nominate a past fight that went to decision that perhaps caused contention that I will rewatch using the same rules I've set myself for more current fights, which are as follows:
- The fight will be watched on mute so I am not influenced by the announcers' commentary.
- The fight will be watched one time only, either live or from a recording
- I will use the 10 point must system to score the rounds, but I will not be going by the unified rules to determine who scores what. I will also more liberally apply 10-10 and 10-8 rounds where I feel necessary to help more accurately reflect the action in the round.
- I will write a commentary of the action as I see it minute by minute for ease of reading and for readers to more easily follow along when watching the fight themselves. I will be judging the round as a whole otherwise.
The only obvious difference for these rewind versions of WDMTF is rule 2. Chances are I've already seen the fight, but figure since it's been such a long time since I last saw the fight I've forgotten the bulk of the action that transpired.
Similar to the BE's Baddest nomination threads, all you have to do is write your nominations one time as a new comment in the title field. I'll give you a clue, since the first WDMTF Rewind I plan on writing features the controversial Michael Bisping vs Matt Hamill fight from UFC 75. So to nominate a fight like this, you would write "Nominate - Bisping vs Hamill". I wanted to feature this particular fight earlier in the week, but I am currently awaiting delivery of the UFC 75 DVD in the post. That event featured another close decision in the Dan Henderson vs Rampage Jackson title unification bout, so feel free to nominate that if you so desire.
Have fun, BElitists.
