Frank Mir granted TRT exemption for UFC 169 bout with Alistair Overeem

Ron Chenoy-US PRESSWIRE

Frank Mir will be on Testosterone Replacement Therapy for his UFC 169 bout with Alistair Overeem.

Frank Mir is still riding the TRT train. The former UFC heavyweight champion who repeatedly checked in at near the 265 pound weight limit during his time in the UFC is on the therapy to treat for low testosterone and has been granted his third exemption for the treatment.

MMA Junkie had the news:

Frank Mir has been granted a therapeutic-use exemption for testosterone-replacement therapy for his fight with Alistair Overeem this Saturday at UFC 169.

...

Mir will enter the event on a three-fight losing streak, including defeats to former champion Junior dos Santos, Daniel Cormier and Josh Barnett.

The former heavyweight titleholder also received an exemption for his UFC 164 bout with Barnett, which he lost via controversial first-round knockout this past August. That was the second time that Mir has publicly received a TUE for one of his fights. He was also granted one for his UFC 146 championship contest against dos Santos in Las Vegas.

Overeem, the subject of plenty of speculation for his own action figure physique, has had his own issues with testosterone, testing way over the limit and having to take a big suspension from the NSAC prior to his bout with dos Santos.
