Randomly saw this on my tv last night so I recorded the episode just to watch the interview. Dana started off with talking about how he got into buying UFC and how it was nothing but a name at the time you now the same old speech but it had to be asked since Arsenio needs to talk about how things are different since the 90s.
After they touched on the Anderson leg break which Arsenio thought happened because he blocked a kick Dana corrected him they showed a pictured everyone ewed and awed and Dana said he would be up and walking by end of the month and tried to tell us that Anderson would fight by end of the year (believe it when I see it). Then the Anderson/Roy Jones JR. fight came up but was brushed under quickly leading to talks of Danas start in boxing stating that he was pushed out of Boston by notorious Whitey Bulger.
The question of how Dana felt about going against the WWE for ppv sales came up next which led to talks of Mcmahon calling to challenge Dana to a fight which nothing ever came of. Arsenio brought up Danas new boxing series The Fighters and again showed his inability to escape the 90s when he asked about it not featuring mma fighters the names he used where Tank Abbot and the Gracie's.
Lastly Dana promoted This weekends UFC 169 mentioning that he sure as hell hopes the Superbowl stayed on sunday and again stated that 169 would be pushed a day if the Superbowl was to be moved ahead. My take on this interview was that Dana was probably asked to do the interview due to the fox connection and didn't have anything of real importance to say but more importantly that the Arsenio Hall Show should have remained a memory from the 90s.
