In the main event of UFC on fox 10 out of Chicago, IL former lightweight champion Ben Henderson was able to squeak by former Strikeforce challenger Josh Thomson to earn a split decision victory. The two battled back and forth over the 25 minutes bout with most of the action happening on the mat or in the clinch. In the end two of the three ringside judges saw Henderson gaining the advantage.

Henderson came into the fight after losing his title to current champion Anthony Pettis at UFC 164. Since making his UFC debut, Benson has gone an impressive 8-1 against top competition. Thomson came over in the fall of Strikeforce and debuted with an impressive KO of former contender Nate Diaz. He was promised a title shot with a win tonight, but the instead the loss drops him to 1-1 inside the Octagon.
