The "Cowboy's" decision to forego fight film paid off as he put Martins to sleep in the closing seconds of the first round.

Lightweight Donald Cerrone fought Adriano Martinez on the main card of UFC on Fox 10 in Chicago, IL. Both fighters were happy to keep the fight standing through the first round. Martins had some success with his kicks, but Cerrone ended the fight with a head kick of his own in the closing seconds of the opening round.

Martins came in quickly with a clinch attempt, but Cerrone tossed him away. Back on the feet Martins tried to frustrate Cerrone with kicks to the body. "Cowboy" stayed call and responded with punches and kicks of his own. As the round came looked to be coming to a close, Cerrone landed a perfectly placed right head kick that sent Martins unconscious before he even hit the mat. No follow up needed as the referee came in to pull him off.

Donald Cerrone knocks out Adriano Martins at 4:40 of round 1.

After winning in his UFC debut, Martins was looking for his win streak to seven. After 11 fights inside the Octagon, Cerrone was going for his ninth UFC victory.
