First of all this isn't in any specific order but I will keep it around 10 parts. Now this fight would have pitted two of the greatest fighters of all time against each and would have truly proven who is the best heavyweight in the world at the time. Fedor Emelianenko vs Randy Couture. Now this fight almost happened when Randy tried to sign with Affliction but that ended up with his Notorious contract dispute with the UFC. Now Randy did try to pull a dick move here and break his contract with the UFC but at least he did it to fight Fedor. During the time when they would have fought i'm pretty sure that Fedor was the number 1 heavyweight in the world and Randy was like number 3 or 4. Fedor was in the post pride era and fought matt linland and Hong man choi. Then after that he added two former ufc champions to his immpressive record. Fedor basically beat up almsot every guy he fought and never really had many times when he had a hard fight and really got rocked. The only time I can think of Fedor being hurt is when he fought Kazuyuki Fujita and was on roller skates for a few minutes but he came back and choked "Ironhead" out a few minutes later. Randy at the time came out of retirement and suprised a lot of people by beating Tim Sylvia up for five rounds to win his fifth UFC title at 43 years old. Then after that he tried to leave the ufc like I said earlier and the fedor vs couture talk started. Okay time to dissect each guys skills and how they match up against each other. Randy has all of you know was a grinder. He would take guys down just ware them out and beat them senseless. Has far has his striking goes it was solid not really good or bad but he knew how to box. Now his striking defense though I don't thing was good at all. When he got knocked out by Chuck Lidell he kinda just rushed in with a slap like punch with nothing behind it and barely moved his heaf at all. Another example is when Lyoto Machida kicked his tooth out of his mouth. Now I know Machida is really good and randy was old has ballz at the time but come on you didnt see that coming dude was lowering his hands and was looking like he was kinda throw a front kick to me.Another thing to dissect of Couture is his submission defense. A lot of randys early losses were by submission but he improved that and mostly got knocked out instead of getting submitted in his prime to the end of his career. Fedor was a true Mixed Martial Artist. He could strike, ofensely grapple, submit from his back, and could just knock guys the f*ck out. Fedors striking in his prime was fantastic mix of speed, power, and techinacal boxing he was almost unstoppable. Only knock I got on his striking is that sometimes he would get a little too wild in one of his flurries that he liked to attack with. His grappling was very good. He could take guys down if he wanted to and if he got taken down he could submit them or reverse them. Also fedors ground and pound was sick in one of his fights with Big Nog he stayed in his guard and just rained down a hellstorm of punches at nog. Breakdown- I think thst this fight would be pretty one sided. I see Randy come at Fedor and getting blasted and put away in the first round and even if Randy got the fight to the ground I feel like Fedor would submit him with an armbar the way he did to mark coleman.
