Let's just get right into it.
On Friday night for one of AXS TV's live MMA cards (XFC 25), they did something I've never seen in MMA.
You see the usual height, age, etc. The ludicrous "wing span" reach, which has given someone like Brock Lesnar an "81 inch" reach. Leg reach. Finally. I don't know how many times Joe Rogan has talked about it during a UFC broadcast, but good on XFC. With leg reach we can finally see in numbers how much of disadvantage certain fighters are at.
If leg reach weren't used in the 115lbs title fight between Stephanie Eggink and Angela Magana, you would have seen that Eggink has the height advantage, but only two inches more "WING SPAN" of reach. Which, honestly, doesn't tell you shit. Eggink's leg reach at 38.5 inches is 5 inches more than Magana's 33.5 inches. This measurement puts into perspective the height advantage much more, in my opinion.
But, now it looks strange that leg reach is shorter than what's to most fans is "arm reach". Either put wingspan reach or start measuring armpit to knuckle. Shit, could it be that hard. UFC, I'll tell you what you give me access to all the fighters and I'll measure it myself. I'll pay for my own ticket, lodging, food, everything.
Anyways......... round of applause for XFC, the first organization, I've seen implement leg reach.
