The Winnipeg convention centre will be rocking Friday September 13th. CFC 8 is jam packed with local talent, and should be a great night of fights. Canadianfighting.com is also reporting that UFC lightweight champ Anthony Pettis will be in attendance.
Let's have a look at some key bouts of the night.
The main event features veteran Joe Doerksen (49-16). "El Dirte" is looking for his 50th career victory. Doerksen is coming off a decision victory over Kalib Starnes at AFC 11 last September. Doerksen will be facing Mike Kent (9-2). Mike will have his hands full, as he tries to rebound from a first round loss in May at ECC 17.
The co-main event could steal the show, as it pitts Winnipegs own Travis Gervais (3-0) against Kevin Lee (4-0). Both fighters are undefeated in their young careers. Travis has 3 consecutive ko's. The last coming in March of this year. Kevin Lee had his last fight in July, and won via submission.
Another great bout to look for is Mark Durant (3-3) vs Dominick Blais (9-5). Durant aka "The Black Wolf" is coming off a submission loss back in March. Blais will be looking to get his second straight win. He last fought in September of last year, and picked up a decision victory. This will be a tough one for the fans, as both men are Winnipeg products.
CFC 8 also features Agostino DeNatale (3-2) vs Jimmy Zidek (10-7). Agostino "The Bull" is looking bounce back after a submission loss nearly a year ago. DeNatale will have to keep his hands up, and may look to take this to the ground. Zidek is riding a 3 fight win streak, where all were won by KO. Jimmy last fought in June of this year.
Canadian Fighting Championship 8 is going to be a full card of great fights. A total of ten fights are expected for this fun filled evening.
