UFC Fight Night 28 medical suspensions: Jacare Souza, two others out up to six months

Jason Silva-USA TODAY Sports

The full list of medical suspensions has been released for UFC Fight Night 28,and one of the evening's big winners, Ronaldo 'Jacare' Souza could be out up to six months due to an injured right foot.

Ronaldo ‘Jacare' Souza finished Yushin Okami in impressive fashion in the co-main event of UFC Fight Night 28. However Souza may have paid a high price for less than three minutes of work in Belo Horizonte, Brazil.

Souza dropped Okami with a strong right hand, and then delivered several more strikes to Okami once he hit the ground. Souza's assault forced the referee to wave off the fight at the 2:47 mark of the first round. Following the referee's intervention, Souza stood, took a few limping steps, looked down at his right leg and elected to forego his trademark alligator crawl.

After the fight Souza said, through a translator, "When I kicked him, I saw that I hurt him a bit so I kicked him more. It's hurt, and because it's hurt unfortunately I couldn't do my ‘jacare' walk for the crowd."

We don't know the extent of the injury to Souza's leg, but we do know that it could keep him out of action for a prolonged time. Souza and the rest of the fighters that competed on the September 4 fight card have received their medical suspensions from the Brazilian Athletic Commission (CABMMA):
