Six fighters, including Jon Jones and Alexander Gustafsson get 60-day medical suspensions following UFC 165. Two other fighters handed 30-day medical suspensions.

When the UFC 165 post-fight press conference began, UFC president Dana White announced that neither competitor from the evening's main event would be making it to the dais. Instead, UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones and the man that gave him the biggest test of his professional MMA career, Alexander Gustafsson would be heading to a Toronto hospital to get their various wounds attended to.

UFC 165 took place on Saturday, September 21 from the Air Canada Centre in downtown Toronto. Jones and Gustafsson headlined the card, and after five hard fought rounds UFC announcer Bruce Buffer read the scorecards declaring Jones the unanimous decision winner. The victory gave Jones a UFC light heavyweight record sixth title defense. Jones also extended his winning streak to 10 straight, another record in the 205 pound weight division.

In the evening's co-main event, Renan Barao defended his interim UFC bantamweight title with a highlight reel spinning back kick knockout of Eddie Wineland. The victory, according to White will set Barao up to fight UFC bantamweight champion Dominick Cruz in a title unification bout sometime in early 2014.

A total of 13 fights took place on the card. Of the 26 fighters that participated in the event, eight received medical suspensions from The Office of the Athletics Commissioner of Ontario.
