I have thought about this for a while now but was hesitant to write a fanpost proposing this debate. My opinion are these kicks are highly effective and potentially fight deciders if well thrown, but risk serious injuries for the fighters, and i really don't think they provide too much to the show, if anything, they substract from it.
"But this is fighting". Sure, well then let's allow headbutts and strikes to the spine.
I think it's the duty of the UFC to protect their fighters and make it possible for them to have a lasting career within the hazards that the nature of this sport obviously throws at them. This is an inherently dangerous sport, but really, what do oblique kicks offer to it? Would the show suffer if they were made illegal?
P.S: Funnily, i tend to throw them at the gym, only hint them really, i need to change that.
