The UFC is quickly filling up the Manchester, England card, scheduled for October 26th, and two more fights have been booked for the event. First up is a flyweight fight between England's own Phil Harris against John Lineker:
Harris and Lineker were scheduled to fight at UFC 163 in Brazil, but an injury to Harris forced a switch of opponent, and Lineker instead faced (and defeated) Jose Maria Tome by 2nd round TKO. The last time Harris (22-10) fought was in London at UFC on Fuel 7, where he edged out Ulysses Gomez by decision. Lineker (22-6) has won 3 straight fights but has missed weight twice, including the win over Tome, so if he wants to be a contender at 125 he actually has to make the weight.
John Lineker vs Phil Harris and Gunnar Nelson vs Jordan Mein are nice additions to the UK UFC card.— Ian Bain (@TheIanBain) August 9, 2013
Nelson (11-0-1) is 2-0 in the UFC, but both DaMarques Johnson and Jorge Santiago are out of the organization. He was originally given a step up in competition at UFC 160 vs. Mike Pyle, but the Iceland native had to pull out with an injury.
Mein (27-9) is only 23 years old but has 36 pro fights (plus several amateur ones) under his belt. After stopping Dan Miller at UFC 158, Mein took a short notice fight with Matt Brown, earning FOTN honors but coming away with a 2nd round TKO loss. The Canadian has otherwise won 9 of his last 11 fights overall.
UFC Fight Night: Bisping vs. Munoz airs live on Fox Sports 2 on October 26th.
