That's right, Nathan "Carnage" Corbett will be facing off with Tyrone Spong at Glory 11, which takes place October 12th in Chicago.
Carnage and Spong first met at the Champions of Champions event in Jamaica, just over 4 years ago. The fight would produce one of the more bizarre endings in recent combat sports memory. To the people in here who are just hearing about this fight for the first time - don't Google it! I certainly won't spoil it for you. Just watch it for yourself, at the link below (tune in at around 6:14 to skip the formalities).
The scrap will most likely take co-main event status, as the rumored Heavyweight Grand Slam tournament will take place on the same night. In the wake of Semmy Schilt's sudden retirement, a new king must be crowned. A four-man, one-night tournament will be the method of determination, and the dance card for this tourney will feature such luminaries of violence as Daniel Ghita, Anderson "Braddock" Silva, Gokhan Saki, and Rico Verhoeven.
This is looking to be one of the greatest kickboxing cards of the year, and the fact that it'll be featured on Spike TV will show us if world-class kickboxing is dead on arrival in America, or just about to find it's stride. It'll also be very interesting to see if Spong can continue his dual-pronged blitzkrieg through both kickboxing and MMA, as he's slated to face the mid-level brawler Angel DeAnda at World Series Of Fighting 4 this weekend. No matter the outcome of that fight, I'll certainly be watching on October 12th.
