UFC 164 results: Josh Barnett stops Frank Mir early

Kyle Terada-US PRESSWIRE

In the co-main event of UFC 164, Josh Barnett stopped Frank Mir via TKO in under two minutes.

Josh Barnett stepped into the octagon for the first time in over a decade, and he got right to work. He pressed his opponent Frank Mir against the fence pretty much immediately and opened up with his striking. Mir responded fairly well early, but he began to wear down a bit due to Barnett's pressure, and then a big knee ended his night. Barnett dropped him with the knee to earn the TKO victory at the 1:56 mark of the first round.

They opened up and engaged in a firefight right away. Barnett got inside and they exchanged a bevy of punches and knees. Barnett scored with a couple of nice uppercuts. Mir was basically pinned against the fence, unable to escape.

Barnett landed a huge knee right to the face and Mir collapsed to the mat. Mir appeared out and the referee stopped the fight, but Mir protested the stoppage because he was up pretty much right away.
