This post will cover live results and thoughts for the preliminary card on Facebook and FX.
The prelim portion of the card breaks down like this:
So make sure to come back and share your thoughts in the comments as the event goes down.
Viscardi Andrade vs. Bristol Marunde - Round 1 - Andrade with an overhand that gets in and a head kick that misses. Now a right hand gets in and a low kick. Two good punches and Marunde drops. They stand again and again Andrade drops him and Marunde is so out of it that he's trying to take down the referee. That'll do it. Viscardi Andrade wins by TKO (punches), round 1.
Ednaldo Oliveira vs. Francimar Barroso - Round 1 - Barroso with some head kicks that miss. Oliveira looking to stay at distance and work his length. Good leg kick by Barroso. Barroso is getting the better of things standing so far. Oliveira is chasing, Barroso is just picking his spots. 10-9 Barroso.
Round 2 - Barroso is back to attacking the legs. Oliveira with a takedown and he lands a lot of ground and pound in a few seconds before standing up and telling Barroso to get back up. Barroso looking for the takedown now. Oliveira gets up though. Now Barroso has landed two very good right hands. Barroso catches a kick and completes a takedown and now he lands some good punches but Oliveira does manage to get up. 10-9 Barroso for me.
Round 3 - Barroso almost gets a guillotine early but Oliviera defends. Now Barroso with a body lock takedown into side control. Oliveira gets back to his feet though. Oliveira looking for the Thai clinch but cant do much with it as Barroso is looking for the takedown again. 10-9 Barroso.
Official scorecards: 30-27, 30-27, 29-28. Francimar Barroso wins by unanimous decision.
Rani Yahya vs. Josh Clopton - Round 1 - Yahya with a nice punch combination to start the round. Yahya looking for the takedown, Clopton defends pretty well but Yahya looks to pull guard and he's looking for a leg lock. Yahya gives up on the leg and just takes top position instead. Good ground and pound from Yahya as he's improving his position. Now he passes to full mount. Clopton does manage to survive to the end of the round though. 10-9 Yahya.
Round 2 -Clopton with a nice few punches and Yahya is looking for the takedown again and he gets it. He is dominating on the ground again and again gets to full mount. He beats on him a while and the round ends. 10-9 Yahya.
Round 3 - Yahya misses on a takedown attempt. Now he shoots again and he ends up pulling guard and Clopton is on top. Clopton with another takedown and he's winning the round but not really achieving much offensively. Now Yahya with a takedown. 10-9 Clopton. Not a great fight.
Official scorecards: 29-28, 29-28, 29-28. Rani Yahya wins by unanimous decision.
Ian McCall vs. Iliarde Santos - Round 1 - McCall with some good strikes early as they trade punches. Huge left hook by McCall and now he misses a head kick. Santos lands a right hand now but he's still getting beat to the punch. Santos lands again. 10-9 McCall.
Round 2 - McCall dictating things in the early part of the second again. Santos is really looking for home run shots while McCall moves in and out, lands the jab, works kicks and lets his right hand go. McCall eats a pair of big right hands. Not sure why McCall keeps allowing his hands to drift low and eat those punches, but it's happening. McCall misses a takedown and Santos with a nice takedown. Santos can't hold him down very long though. Another big right for Santos. 10-9 McCall, but very close.
Round 3 - Santos with a good right hand. Santos can't get the takedown. Santos is having a pretty good round, but McCall does land a very nice left hand. Leg kicks from McCall. I still think McCall has won all three rounds of this fight, but I worry about bad judging with a local guy when McCall did let himself get hit too often.
Official scorecards: 30-27, 30-27, 29-28. Ian McCall wins by unanimous decision.
Sergio Moraes vs. Neil Magny - Round 1 - Moraes with a few big punches. Nice combination by Magny mixing up kicks and punches as he rushes in. Moraes gets inside and gets the clinch and gets a takedown. Moraes is in half guard, looking to pass. Now to side control. Moraes locks in a triangle, rolls to his back and starts landing some very violent elbows. Now he rolls him again and ends up on top and it's over. That was impressive. Sergio Moraes wins by submission (triangle choke), round 1.
Amanda Nunes vs. Sheila Gaff - Round 1 - Nunes refuses the glove touch and looks for the takedown. Now Nunes gets the takedown and is in side control. Nunes passes into mount now and lands a little ground and pound but Gaff just stands up right out of mount. Nunes with another takedown. Nunes opening up with big elbows and this one is over. Wow. Amanda Nunes wins by TKO (elbows), round 1.
Vinny Magalhaes vs. Anthony Perosh - Round 1 - I didn't have half a second to start typing before Perosh landed a perfect right that dropped Magalhaes and then some follow up on the ground that finished it. Wow. Anthony Perosh wins by KO (punches), round 1.
