Cat Zingano is recovering from a devastating knee injury and surgery in May of this year. Her progression in rehabilitation continues, with a recent video displaying an important milestone in her recovery.
UFC women's Bantamweight title contender Cat Zingano continues her recovery from ACL reconstruction surgery on her right knee. It has now been three months since her surgery. Yesterday she posted a video showing her first attempts at jumping since the surgery.
Jumping represents an important progression point in her rehabilitation. In order to protect her surgically repaired knee (as well as her healthy knee), it is vital that she relearn safe landing techniques when she jumps. She will need to learn how to properly flex the knees on impact off the jump, as well as preventing the knee from buckling inward. Relearning and regaining the muscular control of the legs and body during jumping is particularly important for female athletes, as they are more prone to ACL injuries.
Zingano is aiming for a return to fighting early in 2014, possibly January or February.
