Mixed Martial Arts Addict (MMAA)

MMA has always given me a rush that I've never come across before. My first experience with MMA was a VHS tape I picked up at the corner video store. It was called UFC, and the clerk highly recommended it. I got home that evening, and had no clue what I was about to see. UFC 1 led to rental of UFC 2 and so on. I honestly don't want to think about how many dollars I've spent on rentals and PPV buys since. I've considered myself a fan from the beginning, but it wasn't until UFC 161 that my addiction started to take form. Even though the card fell apart due to injuries, it would be the first event I would attend live. A UFC in Winnipeg is something i had dreamt about for years. The atmosphere at a UFC event rivals any hockey, football, or baseball game I've ever been to. To me it felt like a huge nightclub, with two dudes throwing down in the centre. We were seated in the Bud King Club where we got to rub bloody elbows with these guys. Don't get me wrong, UFC 161 sucked as far as fights went. In fact there was only one KO the entire night and I missed it. It was at that time a young lady sitting next to me wanted hugs. (Alcohol may have been a factor). Yes folks when Pat Barry was getting ko'd, I was hugging a drunk chick. In fact the beer flowed in every corner of the MTS centre that night. So much so that they started limiting, and cutting people off during the co main event. I had the time of my life at UFC 161. If I had this much fun with crap fights, I can only imagine what taking in an event at the MGM Grand would be like. After 161, I couldn't get enough MMA. Thankfully I stumbled upon bloody elbow, which feeds my MMA addiction daily. A live UFC event gives you the feeling of a king. Feasting, drinking while two warriors square off against each other. I truly hope the UFC will make Winnipeg an annual event. Until then I will be saving my pennies for a trip to Vegas to see a HW title fight.
