Saturday August 17, Bloody Elbow presents live fight coverage of Daniel Geale vs. Darren Barker, live on HBO. HBO Boxing After Dark Geale vs. Barker airs this Saturday, August 17 live on HBO with a fight time of 9:45 p.m. ET/PT. Bloody Elbow will have live fight coverage, including results and discussion, right here.

Geale vs. Barker headlines a triple-header on HBO, and sadly, it's arguably the least compelling fight of the three. Both Geale and Barker have the feeling of journeymen Middleweights. They're both talented, perfectly fine fighters, yet neither one seems to possess that special spark that makes a fine fighter into a great fighter. To date, Geale has been running through opponents mainly in his native Australie, scoring his biggest win last fall in Germany over Felix Sturm. Barker has his own solid regional record in the UK, and was last scene in a major fight when he lost to Sergio Martinez in 2011. There's definitely the chance for one man to make a serious impact here, but he'll have to wow the crowd to do so.

If you're looking for that elusive spark, look no further than the superb co featured fight that pits Nathan Cleverly against Sergey Kovalev. Both Cleverly and Kovalev have been on the receiving end of a lot of hype, both men are undefeated, both are making their HBO debuts, and both have the potential to be a breakout fighter in the next 12 months. But only one can move forward in this clutch moment in their careers. This is going to be a great, can't miss fight. Cleverly vs. Kovalev takes place in Cleverly's home of Wales, and will be shown on tape delay during the HBO broadcast.

Opening up the show is the superb Jonathan Romero taking on the tough Kiko Martinez. And if you're still not satisfied, HBO Latino will be showing Thomas Dulorme vs. Frankie Figueroa immediately after the Geale vs. Barker card ends. That's a full night of quality boxing.
