Eddie Alvarez talks about his Bellator contract ordeal

Eddie Alvarez sat down with Alexandra Robinson to talk about the end of his Bellator Contract dispute, his plans for the fight, and his feelings about being on a Bellator PPV.

Eddie Alvarez is coming back to the cage, and it's on PPV and it's with... Bellator. The fighter recently settled his long standing dispute with the Viacom based MMA promotion in a deal that sees him gain his unconditional release if he loses, and a trilogy fight if he wins. He sat down with Alexandra Robinson at his gym in Florida to talk about what it means to have the litigation part of his life over with and what he's looking forward to in his upcoming fight.

On having to wait until 2014 to settle his contract dispute with Bellator:
"More than anything I was wary about when I was going to get to be able to fight again. As a fighter, my main concern is getting back in the cage, being in front of fans, being able to perform. My main concern was... Big thing that was going through my head was, 'When am I going to be able to compete again.' I was very worried about that."

On why he decided to settle:
I think it was a number of reasons. I think every relationship has its ups, its downs, and good, bad, and the ugly. It's important to be able to compromise in every relationship. I've had a long standing relationship with Bellator and I think for once, throughout this whole litigation, we were able to comprimise. I've seen their point of view, they've seen my point of view and they put a deal on the table that was fair enough to where I can say 'Let's get back in here. Let's start competing. Get this behind us.'

It's good news at this point as he was unlikely to see a fight until late 2014 if he waited for the dispute to be settled by the courts. Now he'll be back fighting and he may even get the PPV points he was offered in the UFC deal. Check out the video as there's a lot more in there and stay tuned for more news on the upcoming Bellator PPV.
