UFC fighter rankings: Chris Weidman enters top 10 pound-for-pound, Anderson Silva falls to #3

USA TODAY Sports

As expected, the middleweight division and the pound-for-pound rankings had some significant changes on Monday.

There is a new #1 pound-for-pound fighter in the UFC's official rankings following Chris Weidman's KO over Anderson Silva at UFC 162. Light heavyweight champion Jon Jones now assumes the top spot, with welterweight kingpin Georges St. Pierre in 2nd. Silva fell to #3, while Ben Henderson and Cain Velasquez round out the top 5. At 10-0 and now the new middleweight champion, Weidman entered the p4p rankings at #10 behind Dominick Cruz, whose last fight was almost 2 years ago.

The rest of the middleweight division saw a shift in the top 10, as Mark Munoz climbed from 8th to 6th with his win over Tim Boetsch, sending both Costa Philippou and Luke Rockhold down a spot. Interestingly enough Boetsch remains in the top 10 despite consecutive defeats to top 10 opposition. Weidman and Silva of course flipped the "champion" and "#1" spots. There are a few voting panelists who actually had Roger Gracie in the top 10 for ... some reason, but he's no longer ranked anywhere.

In the featherweight rankings, Frankie Edgar remained at #3 after his win over Charles Oliveira, but Cub Swanson was bumped to #4 after stopping Dennis Siver. Chan Sung Jung, who is fighting Jose Aldo next month, moved from 4th to 5th.

You can check out the full rankings here, and if you want to review the rankings of individual media panelists, click the dropdown menu titled "Voting Panelists" and browse around. Bloody Elbow is well represented with T.P Grant, Tim Burke, Chris Hall, and Stephie Daniels on the panel.
