This past weekend, long running MMA promotion King of the Cage ventured outside of North America and hosted a show in Manila, Philippines. Headlining the event was Sean Strickland, a bright young prospect who was able to defeat Japan's Yusuke Sakashita to defend his KOTC middleweight crown.

Strickland, who has finished 9 out of his 11 fights prior, has mentioned in the past that he tends to be "unhappy" when fights end early as he usually trains expecting to go to a decision. This time though, this young prospect did earn that valuable cage time that he wanted, securing a clear cut decision over Sakashita after 25 minutes of action.

"This was my favorite fight ever!", Strickland exclaimed after going full 5 rounds with his Japanese opponent.

The American fighter nicknamed "Tarzan" showcased his striking throughout the duration of the bout, as he defended takedowns and remained very elusive while constantly peppering his Japanese foe with counter shots. With the victory, Strickland improves his unblemished record to 12-0, making it very likely that more than a few large promotions would be knocking on this prospect's door very soon.

The co-headliner of the card featured Joe Stevenson's student, Joe Condon, who was originally set to take on the red hot prospect in Lowen Tynanes, until the Filipino-Hawaiian fighter had to pull out on the last minute. Condon took on Kaleo Kwan instead, and earned himself a hard fought decision victory, leaving the door open for that possible title shot against Tynanes down the road.

The rest of the card featured 10 all-Filipino bouts which had guys such as Carlos Tiongson, Mike Bunag, and Jerry Legaspi all earning quality wins.

Former UFC champion Quinton Jackson and Herb Dean were also in attendance as special guests.
