UFC 162: Silva vs Weidman - Live results and play-by-play for PPV main card

Live results for UFC 162's main card on pay-per-view. The main event sees Anderson Silva attempt to defend his middleweight title against Chris Weidman.

One of the year's most anticipated fights goes down tonight as Anderson Silva defends his UFC middleweight crown against undefeated Chris Weidman. The show kicks off with a couple of fights streaming live on Facebook (6:35 p.m. ET), continuing to the FX broadcast (8 p.m. ET) through the five fight main card on pay-per-view (10 p.m. ET). And we'll have live results and thoughts right here on Bloody Elbow all night long.

This post will cover the action from the main card on PPV.

Aside from the evening's main event of Anderson Silva vs. Chris Weidman, there are four other solid fights on tap including the featherweight co-main event of Frankie Edgar vs. Charles Oliveira.

Tim Kennedy vs. Roger Gracie and Mark Munoz vs. Tim Boetsch in a pair of middleweight bouts and Edson Barboza vs. Rafaello Oliveira in a lightweight bout round out the card.

Cub Swanson vs. Denis Siver - Round 1 - They come out and exchange early but Siver ends up on top on the ground after Swanson misses a kick. Siver passes to side control and is working some short elbows to the ribs and side of the face. 10-9 Siver.

Round 2 - Swanson with a leg kick, Siver misses the spinning back kick. Swanson misses a cartwheel kick and Siver pops him with a few punches. Siver with a left hand. Swanson with a big uppercut, Siver tries for a takedown and Swanson with a beautiful reversal takedown and he's in full mount. Siver survives and actually takes the back at the end of the round. 10-9 Swanson.

Round 3 - Swanson using his speed early to land punches and keep Siver guessing. Siver isn't able to get going this round with Swanson turning it up. Big right hands by Swanson and Siver goes down. Swanson is pounding away. And pounding away. No idea why Herb Dean isn't stepping in but he finally does. Cub Swanson wins by TKO (punches), round 3.

Mark Munoz vs. Tim Boetsch - Round 1 - Boetsch with a front kick, he gets the takedown, Munoz tries to reverse and they're back to standing. Boetsch gets another takedown and almost locks up the choke but they end up on the feet and Munoz lands a good series of strikes. Munoz separates from a clinch with a very good combination of strikes. 10-9 Boetsch.

Round 2 - Boetsch with a good body kick. Munoz with one of his own and then a flailing kinda sorta flying knee attempt. Munoz gets the takedown and he's trying to take the back as Boetsch tries to stand up. Munoz with some massive body shots and Boetsch can't get up. Munoz having a very good round, controlling and doing damage. 10-9 Munoz.

Round 3 - Boetsch looking for the guillotine early and he can't get it but does get to his feet. Now Boetsch looking for the choke again. Munoz escapes and he's working well again with some heavy ground and pound. Heavy, heavy ground and pound but Boetsch is trying to find a kneebar or something desperate. Munoz takes the back and can't get the choke but he's still landing good shots. Boetsch tries again for a kneebar but can't get it. Munoz grinds away again and he clearly won this fight.

Official scorecards: 30-26, 30-27, 29-28. Mark Munoz wins by unanimous decision.

Tim Kennedy vs. Roger Gracie - Round 1 - Kennedy lands a few strikes but Gracie gets the takedown and he gets the back but Kennedy is able to stand up with relative ease. Kennedy pushing Gracie into the cage and playing the clinch game. Now Gracie with another takedown and he has the back again with a body triangle. Kennedy survives the round. 10-9 Gracie.

Round 2 - Kennedy with a legkick. And again. More leg kicks from Kennedy and he clinches Gracie against the cage again. Kennedy with the takedown now. He lands some very good ground and pound before Gracie gets up to his feet. Kennedy with another takedown. He's riding out the round right now, Just landing a punch here and there before Kim Winslow stands them back up. Left hand lands for Kennedy. 10-9 Kennedy.

Round 3 - Gracie looking to use some front kicks but Kennedy lands some good leg kicks. Kennedy just poking away with shots when he sees openings and just grinding away on the feet. Gracie tries for a takedown and Kennedy defends well. Kennedy just pokes his way to the win. 10-9 Kennedy.

Official Scorecards: 30-27, 30-27, 29-28. Tim Kennedy wins by unanimous decision. Not sure how he won the first on two cards though.

Frankie Edgar vs. Charles Oliviera - Round 1 - Missed the first minute of the fight but Edgar scored the takedown. They end up back to standing and Edgar lands a good two punch combo. Edgar landing well and kind of pushing Oliviera around wherever he wants him. Now landing a good left and a hard uppercut. Edgar just letting the combinations flow and he's landing with a lot of success. 10-9 Edgar.

Round 2 - Edgar lands a right as Oliviera throws the leg kick. Edgar with another takedown. Edgar landing right hands. Oliviera is "in" the fight, but Edgar is winning it. Big right hand by Edgar after catching Oliviera's kick. Body shot and three to the head by Edgar.More combination punching by Edgar. 10-9 Edgar.

Round 3 - Edgar with some very big punches to start the round. Landing really well and now he scores a takedown. Oliviera lands a little combo that ends with a solid right hand. Oliviera with a knee and a few more punches. Edgar with a good right and Oliviera answers and now lands a nice elbow. Huge right by Edgar and he hurt him! Another and he's still hurt. And again! Oliviera is eating them now. Edgar ending up on top now and he's working some ground and pound including a very big right hand. 10-9 Edgar for the clean sweep.

Official scorecards: 30-27, 29-28, 30-27. Frankie Edgar wins by unanimous decision.

Anderson Silva vs. Chris Weidman - Round 1 - Silva moving while Weidman stalks. Silva feints and Weidman bails out. Weidman shoots and gets the takedown. Good punches from Weidman from the top. Weidman with some more ground and ound and Weidman looks for a leg lock and gives up position. Silva gets up and he looks annoyed and is starting to play around a bit. He puts his hands on his hips and lands a knee. Widman lands a punch and Silva laughs and tells him to come on. Silva landing some jabs and Silva taunts him more. Weidman is getting baited into it. 10-9 Weidman. I'm saying it right now, Weidman won the round but he just lost the fight.

Round 2 - Weidman shoots after Silva plays more and he gets stuffed. Silva landing the leg kicks now. Silva drops his hands and plays around and Weidman nails him and Silva goes down and it's over! He just played around too much. Boy was I wrong. Chris Weidman wins by KO (punches), round 1.
