Ask, and you shall receive. Former Bellator middleweight champion Hector Lombard has had an uneven start to his UFC career at 185, so he decided to drop to 170. He asked for former Strikeforce welterweight champion Nate Marquardt as his first opponent, and that's exactly what he got. They'll meet on October 19th (via MMA Fighting):
MMAFighting.com's Ariel Helwani has confirmed that, according to sources close to the event, Lombard vs. Marquardt will go down at UFC 166 on Oct. 19 in Houston's Toyota Center.
Lombard (32-4-1, 1 NC) was 1-2 in the UFC at middleweight, most recently losing a split decision to Yushin Okami at UFC on Fuel 8 in March. Marquardt (32-12-2) has lost two in a row, dropping a decision to Tarec Saffiedine in the final Strikeforce fight and getting knocked out by Jake Ellenberger at UFC 158.
It's unclear if the bout will take place on the main card. The main event of UFC 166 will see UFC heavyweight champion Cain Velasquez facing off with former champ Junior dos Santos for the third time.
