UFC 162: Dave Herman cleared to fight Gabriel Gonzaga after passing pre-fight drug test

Dave Herman will be granted his license to fight Gabriel Gonzaga at UFC 162 following successful passing of a ten panel pre-fight drug test.

Dave Herman was forced to clear an extra hurdle to be able to fight against Gabriel Gonzaga at UFC 162 and, according to Keith Kizer of the Nevada State Athletic Commission (NSAC) the fight will go ahead.

At a recent NSAC meeting, Herman's license was up for approval and, having previously failed two drug tests for marijuana, the commission required him to take an extra ten panel drug test. Kizer sent out an e-mail yesterday afternoon stating that Herman was able to pass the test.

Herman's most recent drug test failure was in October and the UFC had handed down a six month suspension. A third failed test will almost certainly spell the end of not only his UFC career, but likely the end of him being able to acquire a license to fight professionally.

Herman will enter Saturday night's fight on the undercard of Anderson Silva's title defense against Chris Weidman as a roughly +200 underdog to Gonzaga.
