UFC on Fox 8 had a title fight and two other fights that featured ranked fighters in the welterweight division, but the outcomes did little to change the rankings. Demetrious Johnson retained his title and stays atop the flyweight rankings, while Robbie Lawler defeated an unranked opponent and Rory MacDonald didn't exactly light the house on fire in his win over Jake Ellenberger. Thus, there's little movement. But here's a look at what did happen.
You can check out the full rankings here, and use the dropdown menu to see the individual picks of the five BE contributors (myself, T.P. Grant, Chris Hall, Fraser Coffeen, and Stephie Daniels).
In the welterweight division there was only one flip-flop - Ellenberger dropped to the number five contender spot, while Demian Maia ended up at four. MacDonald remained in the three slot. Lawler didn't move from number nine despite his win.
In the women's bantamweight division, Germaine de Randamie was the week's biggest mover, jumping two spots from 10 to 8. Her opponent Julie Kedzie slipped from 8 to 9, while Sheila Gaff fell one spot to 10.
The other rankings changes weren't because of this card. More rankers are apparently jumping on the Chris Weidman P4P bandwagon, as he moved from 10 to 9 on that list. Inactive bantmaweight champ Dominick Cruz moved down one spot to 10. And the only other change came in the light heavyweight division, where Phil Davis passed Mauricio Rua for the seven spot for some reason or another. Perhaps because he's fighting Lyoto Machida next.
