UFC 163: Aldo vs. Jung fight card

USA TODAY Sports

A look at next Saturday's UFC 163 card in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, as Jose Aldo defends his featherweight title against Chan Sung Jung.

If you thought UFC on Fox 8 took an injury hit, have a look at UFC 163. The reason why the Korean Zombie is fighting Jose Aldo next week is because Anthony Pettis was injured, but not too injured that he couldn't get the lightweight title shot on August 31st. Josh Koscheck's injury meant his fight with Demian Maia was canceled and Maia will be moved to another event. Clint Hester was not healthy enough to compete against Cezar Ferreira, and Phil Harris pulled out with an injury ahead of his fight with John Lineker. Lastly, Robert Drysdale's UFC debut will have to come another day, as his injury means that he won't be fighting Ednaldo Oliveira.

Okay, enough of the doom and gloom. This is the first of FOUR UFC events in August, and while the injury count sucks, Jose Aldo vs. Korean Zombie does not. Lyoto Machida and Phil Davis need to improve their cases for a title shot, particularly Davis who has not beaten a top 10 opponent since the Lil' Nog win in 2011. Top 10 flyweights Ian McCall and John Lineker are always fun to watch, and McCall is in desperate need of a victory.

Here's your current fight card for Saturday, August 3rd at the HSBC Arena in Rio:
