A Glance at the Past - We Didn't Always Hate TUF

At some point before the horrible antics and talent went terribly south, most MMA fans did enjoy TUF. Getting back into MMA around 2004, watching the PPV’s and DVD’s were great, but watching the first season of TUF made me appreciate the fighters and the sport even more. Sure they still acted out and did silly shenanigans to get viewers and ratings, but learning that these guys weren’t all meatheads that liked to pick fights in bars was very refreshing to learn. Knowing how hard these guys trained and how much effort they put into honing their skill was an eye opener. With the last few seasons of TUF being nearly unbearable to watch, it’s very easy to see why everyone is demanding that it goes away. Before, and if, that ever happens, I’d like to ask you all three questions.

First one is, what season of TUF was your favorite? Second one is, who is your favorite fighter coming out of a TUF season? And lastly, what did you enjoy about the show at some point? Myself, I really enjoyed TUF 5 and watch it every time it’s on FUEL or when I accidentally find one of the DVD’s laying around. BJ Penn is one of my all-time favorite fighters , so watching him coach and hearing the hilarious things that he hurled around was very entertaining to me. The fighters themselves had me either hating them or liking them, with no real gray area in between (no pun intended). Although he’s had a rocky career filled with many up’s and down’s, Chris Leben is my favorite fighter to come out of TUF. The guy has a granite chin, bricks for hands, and just goes out and brawls (which I rarely like to see but he’s the exception). For the first few seasons, I enjoyed watching the exercises and techniques that the coach’s employed in their training sessions. Well those are my answers for those questions, what do you all say?
