SB Nation rankings: Women's pound-for-pound

Jayne Kamin-Oncea-USA TODAY Sports

The SB Nation rankings panel is back with a look at women's pound-for-pound in the wake of Invicta FC 6.

If there's one thing the SB Nation panel can't find common ground on, it's women's MMA. In a lot of divisions, it's pretty easy to find the 10 best fighters and there might be one or two that the panelists don't pick unanimously. Women's pound-for-pound? It's the opposite. Only five ladies got votes from all six of us, and one lady that got votes from four of us didn't even make the top 10. All that's clear is that Ronda Rousey and Cris Cyborg reign atop WMMA.

As usual, our panel consists of two members from each of the three SB Nation MMA sites - Ariel Helwani and Dave Doyle from MMA Fighting; Thomas Myers and Brian Hemminger from MMA Mania; and finally, Dallas Winston and yours truly from Bloody Elbow. Check out the fancy chart below to see where we had everyone at:

(Scoring: Fighters are given 10 points for a first-place vote, nine points for a second, etc., down to one point for 10th place. The results are then tallied up and presented here. Official SB Nation rankings policy: Fighters under commission suspension are ineligible to be ranked during the duration of their suspension or if they have licensing issues).

We all agreed on the first two spots. That's good. Even with Cyborg's win over Marloes Coenen last weekend, she couldn't convince any of us to put her over Rousey. The third spot went to Cat Zingano, who got 4 out of 6 votes in that spot, along with a five and a six. The four spot went to Bellator's Jessica Aguilar, who got also got 4 out of 6 votes for her spot. The BE guys have her a little lower.

After that though, things go a bit off the rails. Sarah Kaufman received 2 third place votes, 2 fourth place votes...and was left off completely by two panelists. I'm not sure how that can be justified. Miesha Tate landed in the six spot after getting votes all the way from five to nine. Megumi Fujii came in at seventh, followed by Jessica Eye and Alexis Davis. Coenen rounded out the top 10 despite her loss last weekend. Four other ladies received votes, but couldn't accumulate enough points to crack the top 10.
