Hold your horses on a possible return to the UFC for welterweight contender Nick Diaz. UFC president Dana White shot down a claim from Cesar Gracie, who said that White recently offered Diaz a fight against an undisclosed opponent. MMA Fighting texted Dana and he responded with this:
"Nobody at the UFC talked to Gracie or anyone else that reps Nick," White wrote via text message.
This is Nick Diaz we're talking about, so the chances of this being a straightforward story were slim and none the moment Gracie made his remarks.
Diaz effectively retired after losing his title fight against Georges St. Pierre at UFC 158, but had stated in the past that he would be interested in a rematch with Carlos Condit or a "superfight" with Anderson Silva. In the meantime, Diaz has started WAR MMA, a regional promotion based out of his hometown of Stockton, CA.
Bloody Elbow will continue covering the potential return of Diaz to the UFC as more details become available, and you can follow the story via the StoryStream feature.
