We have a late change to the UFC on Fox Sports 1 1 card in Boston. England's Andy Ogle was scheduled to face Irish knockout artist Conor McGregor on August 17th, but according to the UFC we will instead see Max Holloway take on McGregor:
Holloway (7-2) lost a controversial decision to Dennis Bermudez at UFC 160, which denied him a 4th straight UFC win. The 21-year-old has proven to be an exciting prospect in the featherweight division, and he should be engaged in a fun striking matchup with McGregor.
McGregor (13-2) TKO'd Marcus Brimage at UFC on Fuel 9 in Sweden, giving him 12 wins by KO/TKO in his career. He is the only Irish fighter in the UFC and is also a highly touted young prospect. The Cage Warriors featherweight and lightweight champion is unbeaten in his last 9 fights dating back to late 2010.
Interestingly enough the tweet never says that Ogle is injured, so it's possible that Ogle had a social security issue akin to that of Nick Ring. Last month it was reported that the FS1 show could've been in jeopardy if every fighter on the card didn't have a social security number. That crisis was averted but Ring (Canadian) was pulled from his fight and so far there's no indication that the Brit was pulled because of injury.
With all due respect to Ogle, I have to say that this is an improvement over the original, and it should bring out some fireworks come fight night. This fight will remain on the preliminary card but will also be televised on FS1.
UPDATE AT 7:16 PM ET: MMA Fighting confirms that Ogle is injured, so no paperwork problems to report this time.
