The UFC burst open the door with seemingly 150 fight announcements this week, and here are 3 more to pass along to you -- all pertaining to UFC on Fox Sports 1: Condit vs. Kampmann in Indianapolis. Of the newly booked matchups, the most prominent one is a women's bantamweight clash between Sara McMann and Sarah Kaufman:
McMann (7-0), a 2004 Olympic silver medalist in freestyle wrestling, defeated Sheila Gaff with consummate ease at UFC 159, scoring a 1st round TKO via punches from the mounted crucifix. The 32-year-old hadn't recorded a first round finish since her 2nd pro fight in 2011.
Kaufman (16-2) is a former Strikeforce women's 135 lbs champion most famous for her slam KO of Roxanne Modafferi back in 2010. The Canadian recently made her Invicta debut against Leslie Smith, winning a split decision and FOTN honors. Her only two defeats have come against Marloes Coenen and Ronda Rousey, both by armbar.
Head (12-3) was supposed to fight at UFC 159 against Nick Catone, but the fight was canceled after Catone, who had already missed weight, was hospitalized for dehydration. The Oklahoman's last fight was a TKO loss to the surging Mike Pyle in December. Voelker (24-9) lost a controversial unanimous decision to Patrick Cote in Montreal this past March. The former Strikeforce fighter is best known for his trilogy with Roger Bowling, recording a 2-1 record against him.
McDaniel (21-6) competed on TUF 17, advancing to the quarterfinals where Uriah Hall annihilated him in 9 seconds. He did win his official UFC debut against Gilbert Smith on the season finale. Tavares (10-1), a TUF 11 veteran, has won 3 in a row, including decision wins against Riki Fukuda in Japan and Tom Watson in England.
UFC on FS1: Condit vs. Kampmann 2 will be in Indianapolis on Wednesday, August 28th. In addition to the main event of Carlos Condit vs. Martin Kampmann, Donald Cerrone faces Rafael dos Anjos in the co-main event while TUF 17 winner Kelvin Gastelum drops to welterweight to battle Paulo Thiago.
