Michael McDonald vs. Brad Pickett slotted for UFC on Fox Sports 1 in Boston

Paul Abell-US PRESSWIRE

Another superb bantamweight fight is on the cards for August 17th in Boston, as Michael McDonald meets Brad Pickett at UFC on Fox Sports 1: Sonnen vs. Shogun.

The UFC already scheduled one great bantamweight matchup in Urijah Faber/Yuri Alcantara for UFC on Fox Sports 1 in Boston, but this next bantamweight showdown is even better. UFC Tonight announced that Michael McDonald will face Brad Pickett on the same card:

McDonald (15-2) is perhaps the hardest puncher in the 135 lbs division, and the 22-year-old won a title shot against interim champion Renan Barao by knocking out Miguel Torres at UFC 145. "Mayday" fought Barao in the main event of UFC on Fuel 7 in London, losing by 4th round submission in what was a very entertaining fight.

Pickett (23-7) has been one of the most consistently entertaining fighters in the UFC, winning Fight of the Night three times and Knockout of the Night against Yves Jabouin. The Brit's latest FOTN award was well deserved, as he defeated Mike Easton by split decision at UFC on Fuel 9 in Sweden. Like McDonald, Pickett has a submission loss to Barao (in England!) on his record.

UFC on Fox Sports 1: Sonnen vs. Shogun is slated for August 17th at the TD Garden in Boston, MA. Here's how the card looks:

Chael Sonnen vs. Mauricio Rua
Alistair Overeem vs. Travis Browne
Thiago Alves vs. Matt Brown
Michael McDonald vs. Brad Pickett
Urijah Faber vs. Yuri Alcantara
Conor McGregor vs. Andy Ogle
Uriah Hall vs. Nick Ring
Joe Lauzon vs. Michael Johnson
Mike Brown vs. Akira Corassani
