A bantamweight fight between Urijah Faber and Yuri Alcantara is set for UFC on Fox Sports 1 in Boston on August 17th. Case Keefer of the Las Vegas Sun relayed the news on Twitter earlier this afternoon:
Faber (28-6) has impressively finished both Ivan Menjivar and Scott Jorgensen in 2013, and is definitely making a case for another title shot. "The California Kid" has won by submission in 4 of his 5 bantamweight victories and is still unbeaten in non-title fights.
Alcantara (28-4, 1 NC) recorded his first official win at bantamweight with a quick TKO of Illiarde Santos at UFC on FX 8 in Brazil. His other bantamweight fight against Pedro Nobre was ruled a no-contest for illegal shots to the back of the head, but replays have suggested it should've been a TKO win for him. Alcantara holds recent wins over Ricardo Lamas (at 155 lbs) and Michihiro Omigawa (at 145 lbs) and is now getting a massive step up in competition at 135 lbs.
UFC on Fox Sports 1 in Boston airs August 17th as part of a marathon of UFC coverage on the new sports channel. No main event has been announced as of this writing, but so far this card is already looking like "the best TV card we've ever done" as Dana White has stated in the past.
