The most recent Ultimate Fighter winner will be dropping a weight class for his next bout in the UFC. Kelvin Gastelum, who upset Uriah Hall in the TUF 17 final, will make his welterweight debut on August 18th when he meets Paulo Thiago at UFC on FS 1: Indianapolis. He announced the bout via twitter.
Gastelum (6-0), the youngest TUF winner in history, said on The MMA Hour with Ariel Helwani back in April that 170 was likely going to be his weight class of choice. He will face Thiago (15-5), who broke a two-fight losing streak with a close victory over Michel Prazeres at UFC on FX 8.
The bout will take place on the preliminary card. The event, also known as UFC on Fox Sports 1 2 (I know, I know) will be headlined by a welterweight rematch between Carlos Condit and Martin Kampmann.
