Quinton "Rampage" Jackson, one of MMA's most outspoken personalities has been unusually quiet since his last UFC loss in January to Glover Teixeira at UFC on Fox 6. Prior to that fight Jackson had made no secret of his intention to leave the UFC.
Here's Rampage's tweet that started all the speculation last night:
It's gonna feel good putting this chain back on... Big news coming real soon. twitter.com/Rampage4real/s…— Quinton Jackson (@Rampage4real) June 4, 2013
Most speculation around Jackson's future has recently involved Bellator and possibly TNA Wrestling. Jackson's friend Muhammed "King Mo" Lawal's deal with Spike TV allows him to fight for Bellator and perform for TNA although he has yet to do the latter.
But last night it was Victor Cui, CEO of Asia's top promotion One FC who got people speculating with the following tweet in response to Jackson:
Looking fwd to seeing u next month! MT "@rampage4real:It's gonna feel good putting this chain back on...Big news coming real soon."— Victor Cui (@victoronefc) June 4, 2013
MMA Mania's James Goyder was quick to clear up the confusion however:
Rampage is appearing as a special guest at a KOTC after party in Manila which Victor Cui will also be attending.— James Goyder (@JamesGoyder) June 4, 2013
So when Victor Cui tweeted 'see you soon' at Rampage he meant 'see you soon'. Not 'ONE FC has signed Rampage'.— James Goyder (@JamesGoyder) June 4, 2013
So we know nothing more about Rampage's future than we already knew. It's pretty clear he's not going back to the UFC after his negative comments regarding the company and the 3-fight losing streak with which he ended his tenure.
