This week was the 7th anniversary of Anderson Silva's UFC debut against Chris Leben. He headlined the Spike TV special coming off of a spectacular standing elbow KO of Tony Fryklund in England, while Leben had an undefeated UFC record. It took only 49 seconds for Anderson to demolish Leben in astonishing and deadly fashion, and by the end of 2006 he was the UFC middleweight champion. Today, Anderson Silva is still the champion while Chris Leben is fighting Andrew Craig. Silva has had more title defenses as Chris Weidman has had in total fights. Weidman is believed to be the next big thing at 185 lbs and probably will remain that way even if he loses next Saturday, but many pundits and fighters alike believe that Chris is a legitimate threat to Anderson's belt.
UFC 162 went through a few changes, most notably losing Ricardo Lamas/Chan Sung Jung after Jung was moved to UFC 163 to fight Jose Aldo. Edson Barboza was also supposed to face John Makdessi but is instead paired up with Rafaello Oliveira. Speaking of Oliveiras, Charles Oliveira will fight Frankie Edgar in Edgar's first non-title fight since 2009.
