Jones will do what Vera wanted to do

Brandon Vera a few years back verbally stated his intention of winning the UFC light-heavyweight title and then going on to win the heavyweight belt. While Vera hasn't been able to reach the summit of the mountain of 205, Jones has dominated the weight class and is poised to actually do what Vera desired: become a dual-division champ.

Jon Jones has made it clear he wants to go up to heavyweight, it's just a matter of when. I sense that his rise to heavyweight will be within three fights. Jones will likely take on Gustafsson or Machida next, most likely Gustafsson as that is his desired opponent. After that, a possible superfight with Anderson Silva is the only other business he has left to achieve at 205.

After that point he can make his debut at heavyweight. A good first matchup would be a bout with Daniel Cormier, as the two have somewhat of a healthy rivalry brewing. Should Jones beat Cormier, he can jump right in there and challenge for the belt against either JDS or Cain Velasquez.

Don't expect it to be too long before Jones jumps up to the biggest weight class, and expect it only to be one fight before he tests himself against the very best. Jones could possibly challenging for a belt at heavyweight by late next year or early 2015. May osund strange but his rise to the top of 205 has been at a blistering pace, and he definitely thinks and dreams big, and achieves big goals.
